BROKER REGISTRATION/ RE-CERTIFICATION for BIDDING PURPOSES and
NAID NUMBER ASSIGNMENT
Online NAID Application

Registration:

Every broker that is registered with HUD receives a NAID (Name Address Identifier). A broker may not place a bid until a NAID has been established.

In order to register your company to place bids on HUD properties, you must complete and submit the documents listed at the bottom of this page. The requested information must be entered electronically using the Broker Application process available on our website (see below). This process also allows brokers to check the status of NAID numbers and verify that information is correct. Please note this does not complete your registration. Your completed application must be printed out, signed in Blue Ink, and sent via overnight delivery to MCB along with all required supporting documents. The registration process takes two to three weeks after MCB receives the required documents.

HUD uses the information that is associated with the NAID to send 1099’s and other correspondence to the brokers. If the mailing address or any other information is incorrect, the broker will not receive any paperwork from HUD. If changes for your company are to be made after receiving a NAID, form 1111 must be filled out completely and mailed in for new processing.

Recertification:

In order to actively participate in the sale of HUD Homes, brokers are required to recertify their Name and Address identifier (NAID) on an annual basis 30 days prior to their recertification date. Failure to do so will result in deactivation of the brokerage’s bidding privileges. The reason for re-certification is to ensure that all participating brokers have active state licenses, and Social Security Numbers and Federal identification Numbers are legitimate for taxing purposes.

While we appreciate that many brokers may have a long history with HUD, we have run into countless examples of brokers who moved their businesses but failed to properly report the address changes and/or who have been using multiple NAID numbers for the same business. Unfortunately, the only way to be recertified is to re-apply

It is advised that the complete application be sent via overnight to MCB. The application should consist of the following documents:

  • SAMS Form 1111 - ORIGINAL NEW FORM as of 12/2007
  • SAMS Form 1111A– ORIGINAL WITH 2 SIGNATURES
  • Internal Revenue Service (IRS) documentation showing Business Name/Individual Name and Tax Identification Number (TIN). Examples include: (IRS Form 147C, IRS payment coupon, and TIN letter of verification). State issued forms are not accepted.
  • Broker’s real estate wall license - copy
  • Broker’s pocket card license – copy (if you are located in UT, MT or CO)
  • Recent (within the last month) utility bill, phone bill OR bank statement showing the company street address (no P.O. Boxes accepted) and company name – copy
  • Social Security Card - copy (only if you are registering/recertifying with SSN)
  • Driver’s License – copy

Upon completion, overnight (faxes will not be accepted) your application to:
